On Sunday, 21 December 2025, our chamber music group returned to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum café in Ayr to present a small Christmas chamber music showcase, running from 12-1 pm.
Following our earlier performances at the museum, this showcase continued our collaboration with the venue, using the café space as a setting for informal, accessible chamber music during the festive period.
The programme mainly focused on seasonal and winter-themed music, presented in a chamber format. Alongside familiar material, several pieces were newly arranged specifically for this performance, adapted to suit both the ensemble and the café's acoustics.
As with our previous event at the museum, the performance was not structured as a formal concert. Visitors were able to listen while moving through the space, joining for part or all of the hour as part of their wider museum visit.
The café provided an intimate environment that encouraged close proximity between performers and listeners. The open layout allowed the music to sit naturally alongside conversation and activity, creating a shared experience rather than a clearly separated performance space.
This informal setting remains central to how we approach performances at the Birthplace Museum.
We are grateful to the National Trust for Scotland and the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum for welcoming us back and for their continued support. Opportunities to perform regularly in this space allow us to maintain a connection with the local community while presenting live chamber music in an accessible way.
As the final performance of the year, this Christmas showcase offered a moment to reflect on a year of music-making and collaboration and to bring it to a close in a familiar, shared setting. We look forward to continuing this relationship and to returning to the museum with future performances.
Updates and documentation of upcoming projects will be shared through the Evans Chou Studios website and social media channels.
